I have worked with survivors of this horrendous abuse for 30 years. People who didn't know one another had such similar stories I couldn't deny. When I tried to get support and help for them, and me, in the process, most people couldn't take it in...and just remained aghast that it could even be possible.. and essentially did nothing. (Thankful for those that do help.) This led me to learn of things going on in our country, government, churches that I would really never have wanted to know either! As the survivors and those who help them know, there have been too few people you could even talk with about any of this. "Conspiracy theory" label was a very effective tool to silence many. I appreciated a recent comment to counter this label by saying, conspiracy analyst.

Officials that did nothing when advised certainly helped people to stay in denial. Seeing their complicity and/or having been blackmailed does explain it. There was also a well funded group that opposed therapists/counselors acknowledging and helping with this: False Memory Syndrome.

If anyone doubts the pervasiveness of this evil, just look at how much society has changed the n the last 60 years. At 4 years old in the early 1960s, my mother felt perfectly comfortable letting me run outside and play in our suburban neighborhood. She wasn’t atypical. My little friends and I walked over several blocks and visited kindly older people who gave us ice cream and talked to us. We trick or treated for hours unaccompanied by any adults. Then it started changing in the 1980s, with missing kids on milk cartons. Parents started driving their kids everywhere and planning out ever minute of their lives. No more freedom to just go outside and play, explore, take risks. Now, mothers won’t even let their little boys go to the bathroom in public restrooms anymore. Perfect preparation for the “just wear the mask” fear culture. Blame all of that on these evil child abusers too!

When you have no experience with evil, it is difficult to believe that it actually exist -- it's a construct, an idea to be used as a plot device, something that is in the realm of crazy serial killers. Talk to someone who lived under the communism of Stalin/Mao or the socialism of Ceaușescu, or miraculously survived one of the nazi camps, the gulag archipelago; those people know evil, they have experienced and witnessed it first hand.

I've spoken with many over the years about this evil over the years. I have some perhaps not fully prepared/convinced, but they are fully aware that there is something wrong. Most people in middle class modern nations haven't experienced real trauma, seen evil, or horror. Most live very sheltered lives, the worst thing for some people is spilling coffee on a shirt or being late to gymnastics, or having to work at a job you dislike. We live in the best place on Earth, it is undeniable, everyone should be thankful and grateful every. single. day. Generally speaking, we want to think that none of the terrible things acted on children could possibly happen -- but it does happen, evil happens. Rubbing someone's face in this, "I was right, you were wrong" does nothing to help what so ever. Would you try that tactic on parent whose child disappeared, who tells themselves that their kid is ok, just so they can function?? There are going to be a lot of people who are going to find out what happens to their missing child, that will be tough enough -- then there will be lots of people who will be affected by what happened to other peoples children. Is causing more grief to any of those parties going to help the situation -- well hell I was right and you were wrong, I have to punch them in the face etc etc.

Show some grace, be benevolent and help who you can. Even for those prepared, the tough guys, those that stand at the ready, it is not going to be an easy time for ANYONE. Help and explain to people first, we're all going to be angry and deservedably so, but by getting others who are not prepared through this, it might help tamp down that anger some. Thank God for your ability to help others with this and you are not caught unaware. Imagine for a moment this information hit you blindsided and it was 100% correct, you say you could handle it, but could you....really?? As I often tell others, especially those younger than myself, when a situation occurs, deal with it accordingly and keep calm, you can get angry, scared, pissed off, cry later, but that isn't going to help the situation, save all of that until it is over. Pray for strength and guidance to get through this.
