Gab is on private servers, so I think those are harder to get to. But I have no idea how that stuff actually works. Any tech people who can confirm that?
Not necessarily harder to get to in the aspect of visiting the site, but definitely harder to "censor"... It would require getting the actual ISP to terminate to shut them down.
That or a massive DDOS attack to make the service "unusable". Depends on if they're using a DDOS service such as cloudflare, load balancers, and what their topology looks like.
There's a small upstart called Spreely. (stands for speak freely). They're having some major growing pains as they are new and I'm sure they're being attacked too. From what I've seen looks good.
I think it won't matter. When the hammer falls - and I do believe it will, soon - all this orwellian, authorian big tech bullshit won't matter.
