The image is misleading. Go to https://flightaware.com/live/ and it appears like this. But if you zoom in just a little, a lot of planes show up in that empty space. The image makes it look like there's not any flights at all at Raleigh, Greensboro, Richmond, or Norfolk. I've been to Raleigh and Norfolk, and there are planes constantly coming and going all day long.
