I left the first 17 seconds in there to show how dark it is. Jump to 18 seconds and wait. You can clearly see the filter being turned off. This is from yesterdays stream, no alterations or anything like that. If I did my time zone conversion correctly, somewhere around 6 AM maybe closer to 7 AM.
I confirmed with today's stream as well and the filter gets taken off too. I am not sure if this is routine for the Vatican but really interesting that they would be applying a filter only during specific times of the day. It may not be significant but I wanted to throw it out there.
Current live stream: https://youtu.be/dCDr9ft0Ym4 Scroll back to about an hour ago. From when I posted this is was 57 minutes from the current live stream.
Yes I see what you mean. Happened last night too. Strange. I just wonder if they do this as cover for something.
I have a WiFi web cam with an IR filter that mechanically toggles on and off depending on how bright it is. It isn't 100% reliable. It could simply be something like that.
Good point, but shouldn't the IR night vision turn on at night and not in the morning?
It should, but it's a mechanical filter with some sort of solenoid or motor. It's the type of thing that tends to wear out or jam long before anything solid state. On top of that, an outdoor camera is exposed to harsh thermal conditions that can make even expensive equipment fail relatively quickly. The camera firmware probably just blindly runs current through a solenoid coil for a fraction of a second, and assumes the filter moves in or out of place.
Yeah it would. That's default for most cameras. It's like it's reversed.
Yeah that's what I am thinking too. It seems pretty routine. I was getting the timezone conversion messed up because I didn't have timestamps on the video so I am recalling from memory the exact times.
Odd indeed. Good work.
They're blacking out the image to hide something is what I suspect. People or vehicles coming and going? Alien orbs landing on the rooftop? There's video of the last one.
Yeah it's really weird. I can't tell if the filter turns off at the same time of day or not. But why turn it on at all? Security measures maybe?
Here is another video from the same stream that shows the cars driving around: https://video.maga.host/videos/watch/c39c8908-b295-4ab6-952f-906d4769c2aa
if they wanted to hide something, dont you think they would have just turned the cam feed off?
Maybe too obvious if they did that? Kind of try to hide in plain sight? That or their person who handles the cameras has no idea what he/she is doing lol
