I'm as well open to similar theories, tbh i make it easier, if that would come close to what you say, would mean Trump was in since and all of this was planned long long time ago, and that there are no GOOD forces left in this world to have a chance to save us.
History spoke, we know about civilizations that were here thousands years before us, we know there is a cycle, before a critical events occurs and changes in good or bad the faith of humanity, that's why i'm mostly prone to think positively, apart Q there are thousands other 'hidden' realities that i was aware long before he appeared, not gonna discuss them here cuz that would be an endless topic.
Going back to your point on metaphorical or no, in reality it depends a lot on the key with which you read it.
Given my point of view up for example, first think i thought with "The generals came to me and said, Sir, we don't have any ammo." has been:
-> Sir the world is going to go nuts ( and Trump from his story knows DS and what is coming next very well ), there's no one on which we can rely on, everyone is taken out or joins their club, we can protect, but we need someone that's not afraid of them, you are our only hope"
BUT, If i have instead to see it from the "alternative (negative in this case)" point of view, so that Trump was in since the first, i wouldn't even think about the generals stuff, simply because that would not have been needed at first
