A software engineer friend told me there have been many experiments with AI chat bots. He told me that surprisingly most end up getting shut down because they almost always devolve into “right wing extremist rhetoric”.
When I asked him what he meant by “right wing extremism” he didn’t have a clear answer. Just vague talking points about nationalism, anti Zionism etc.
So I asked him “have you ever found it suspicious that any counter narrative that focuses on individual rights, national sovereignty, and the destruction of the global oligarchy, immediately gets accused of white supremacy and the like?”
It’s amazing how many people stop dead in their tracks when they hear terms like white supremacy or nazism. People are so afraid of being lumped in with these groups, they don’t even stop to think about how easy it is to control people and demonize information, simply by throwing a buzz word at it.
Somehow it’s was easier for my friend to conclude that AI computers are somehow inherently racist, than for him to question what people actually mean when they throw around the words “white supremacy”.
The dude is too invested in proving to others that he’s smart, to take the risk of doing some actual critical thinking.
Great term. Thanks for your feedback. I think I learned about sticks and carrots when I watched that “Economic Hit Man” movie back in the day. Very simple yet potent strategy.
