It is a metaphor comparing a beautiful, strong, well-constructed, and worthy ship, built better than any before, one that carries the hopes and prayers of the people, to the Ship of State which is, I think, the soon-to-be constructed new government that likewise will carry the nation solidly into the future and leave all other ships behind. Very optimistic, very proud, very patriotic. Love it! A superb choice for those senators who were paying attention. The fate of our nation is riding on the new ship which I believe the Patriots and Trump want to create. I think Longfellow , a great student of history, wrote it to try to head off the Civil War, but of course, it did not do so. But it does express the hope for a new national pride. I hope we are not headed for a civil conflict, but if the need arises, the new, clean government for which we fight will be worth it.

Thanks! Great explanation!
You are wlecome!
I’m thinking it’s not so much this particular poem but rather the poet that is key here:
“Paul Revere was a colonial Boston silversmith, industrialist, propagandist and patriot immortalized in the Henry Wadsworth Longfellow poem describing Revere's midnight ride to warn the colonist”.
Remember that Q post with the 2 lanterns in the window? I wonder if the hint at this poet is a hint at Paul Revere this a hint at the Qpost with the 2 lanterns in window
I was thinking about Watch the water rather.
can't do it. Sorry but poetry is on my list of pet peeves.
It was, wasn’t it!? The lawyer didn’t read everything yesterday though. Just the last part.
