I was in a unit in the MDW for almost 6 years. The Old Guard is part of the Military District of Washington. The term encompasses a certain area and duty description of the unit. I was assigned to a Technical Rescue unit in the MDW. There are unique but specialized units in the district. Lots of ceremonies like Twilight Tattoo that are put in by the MDW.
