I completely expect the plan included consideration of his possible actions, and quite likely allowed for his actions either way.

It is not as if merely him doing the right thing would have gotten the corrupt Congress to not certify Biden.

I doubt he was instructed to do the corrupt thing, even if his treason may work to advantage.
