He has the adulation of at least 84 million of us. The awake of the world look to us and him. He is more powerful than any "elected" leader. And the thing is he knows how to use power. This is what makes the "insurrection" narrative so stupid.

POTUS could have literally snapped his fingers and that entire crowd would have taken the building over and drug everyone out onto the lawn.
