It's not AF1 mate, the only time any aircraft from the Presidential fleet uses the callsign AF1 is when the President is onboard, or AF2 when the VP is onboard.

It is person specific and not aircraft specific, if a President is onboard a small Gulf stream it would then use the AF1 callsign.

That callsign SAM750 stands for "Special Air Mission 750" which is most likely top brass from the DOJ or the like.

Some confusion around this is because we have seen Harris today flying to LA in one of the Presidential fleet birds, using AF2 callsign which is correct. But many times we know Biden has been onboard a Presidential bird yet it DOES NOT use the AF1 call sign, all very strange and not protocol.

Hope that helps.

Yes indeed I have heard one ATC broadcast using the AF1 callsign with Biden onboard. I have yet to see the callsign AF1 via adsb.exchange whilst Biden is onboard. Yes I suppose you could argue that there is no protocol, however the AF2 callsign is used for Harris and on the same exchange?

The morning of the 20th, Trump flew to Mar-a-lago on 82 - 8000 using the AF1 callsign, Biden flew to DC on a non presidential airplane. That's it. I'm not saying it's a truth or not, it just does not appear normal.

For what its worth, call signs SAM are used for transporting VIPs.

Not AF1 unless a (real) president is onboard. But do they usually show pics of the presidential fleet? Yes. Fun fact, kamala's plane has used callsign AF2, however, Biden has NOT used AF1. ,🤔
