What is up with this new Asian hate hysteria?

My grandparents are watching some MSM and I have no idea what this new Asian hate hysteria is about.

Even the most white supremacist people online typically have no problems with Asians so to me this seems like total bullshit as usual.

Gun control. They cant use the black community because of inner-city gun violence with strict gun laws so they picked another group of people by a race that has low nationwide statistics involving the use of guns and hardly any national news coverage of crimes within their communities. Therefore now MSM can push the >targeted group< narrative. My opinion.
