What is up with this new Asian hate hysteria?

My grandparents are watching some MSM and I have no idea what this new Asian hate hysteria is about.

Even the most white supremacist people online typically have no problems with Asians so to me this seems like total bullshit as usual.

A few weeks ago on Queen Sugar they had a tv station running in the background talking about Asian hate crimes. Smells like preprogramming to me. I'm not 100% they said white supremacist. This was just after that Oakland attack.
