There is a scene where a torpedo is launched at the Red October by a different Russian sub. Captain Ramius steers the Red October directly at the torpedo which causes the torpedo to turn away. There’s more to the scene, but the idea holds, you think it would turn toward them, but it turns he other way.
Actually, he turns into the torpedo and it hits the Red October without exploding because the other captain had set a certain distance for it to detonate as a safety device. The captain removes the setting on a later launch, which of course comes back to bite him.
In an earlier attack, Ramius maintains a high speed in a trench area, and is able to elude the chasing torpedoes because he’s not following the expected course/speed the other captain is expecting.
Never saw that movie. Is that what happens?

Interesting... well, it seems the tweet is pretty clear then. Definitely red oct related.

You’re right, I need to watch the movie again. Thanks!
