Well I do know one thing. Germany played a great part in the russian revolution and creating the Soviet Union. They were the ones who released Lenin from exile and secretly sent him to Russia. All in order to get Russia out of WWI. It's unknown for sure if they thought Lenin and the Bolsheviks would actually succeed in overthrowing the Tsardom and turning the country to communism, or if they just wanted Russia distracted enough to just leave the war. Either way, just releasing him from exile, definitely helped change the history and direction of Russia.
