Last week I braved Costco in Eastern Washington with no mask. Saw someone in the parking lot who looked like he might be awake so asked if he was masking up and he wasn't so I said, "Me either. Let's walk in together!" We held our masks in our hand with our Costco card. Spent about an hour there and no problem until checkout when they asked if I needed a mask and I said I didn't.
Thank you! I have not used a mask for months now and 99.7% of the time no-one says a word. Sometimes I really have to steel my nerves and tell myself, "If not me then who? If not now then when? I am an oppression fighter!" It is my mantra.
You're certainly braver in most instances than I, dear Fren. I still have a hard time going into stores and such without masks, although restaurants are at least where I like to push the envelope. I guess it boils down to need and convenience vs. resolve and resistance.
It happened slowly. At first I could only brave it with my husband along side. Then I would go alone and carry a mask in my hand in case(never needed it though), then I stopped even bringing it with me. Now when I am with friends and family I tell them not to put it on around me. LOL
I use to bend the knee after calling everyone a nazi, now im over it. Was told i couldnt enter and had to wait around back. I did, now i understand how all those blacks felt in the 60s or what ever. Rapperations cuz
The very few times I was told to mask-up or use curbside service I replied, "No thank you. I will take my business elsewhere." I will not support tyranny.
It's the typical reaction that when pushed aggressively, people will respond with a contrarian answer just to spite the person bothering them. Like when you react to a troll or argue with someone on the internet, the main reaction you'll get is a "doubling down" from the instigator or a bunch of other people ganging up on you.
I think it's a human reaction especially in groups (mob mentality). These people on their own may be easier to crack than getting them in groups like this where the pushback will be contrarian just because this guy is causing a scene and questioning their belief system.
Thanks, I'm not a psychologist or anything but I'm pretty observant and notice this to be the case in a lot of situations. I bet many of these people if you talked to them long enough in a 1v1 situation may be a bit more flexible and easier to engage. But since this guy was making a scene in the middle of their workplace and they spend all day embedded in the psychology of masking, the likelihood that anyone like this man would be able to break through the spell is pretty low to nonexistent.
Furthermore, the type of company that Costco is and the type of employee that they attract is more than likely going to be willing to go along with these policies in the first place. Although this is not always the case as I know for a fact there are many people who work at these places that are absolutely sick of masks but just don't want to be the nail that sticks out of the wall lest they risk getting hammered by their brainwashed colleagues.
Costco and Trader Joe's are the two absolute worst places to stage an anti-mask demonstration. It's like walking into the lion's den with a steak wrapped around your neck and yelling at the lions because they try to eat you. The amount of lefty bullshit those two companies espouse trickles down into their employees and their customers.
That said, I appreciate this guy for this bravery and his massive balls. It takes balls to walk into a Costco and do this sort of thing, let alone walk in there unmasked without making a scene. I'd like to see him try it at the Issaquah, WA Costco because that's the headquarters warehouse and this area is ultra-woke.
Go into Costco, wearing a mask, with a backup mask in your pocket. Go to the meat section. Load up a cart with hundreds of dollars of fresh meat. Ditch it in an aisle with your backup mask on top. Then leave. They can't restock the meat and it costs them. Do this with several people across many stores. One of these things will happen:
They ditch the mask thing.
They make it difficult to get the meat, which will inconvenience the legit customers, and put pressure on the stores to do something about it.
Pretty good idea, though I'd rather people just said "fuck it, you can't intimidate me" and went in maskless en masse. The only reason 8 people surrounded this guy was because he was alone. I'm not sure if we can get enough real people to do this, though. So your idea may work. Though, in my experience in retail, they WILL restock the meat LOL
Where I live our governors mask mandate got overturned by our Republican state Senate the only place I mask up is work..I am sick of it all. It’s my right to decide if I want to wear one. Walmart Costco Menards Home Depot are all very bad in Wisconsin when there is no more mask mandate.

Fucking awesome job, Fren.

^^^This. I am with you!

People are fucking insane. No other explanation.

That's a really good analysis of human behavior. I agree completely.

We need this EVERYWHERE. I am free and refuse to be muzzled with a face diaper.
Pathetic we've devolved to this point.
Here is the way to put a stop to this.

This is a protest. Do it and see the change.

What a bunch of pussies

Give this man a beer from me???
Good for this Patriot. Does anyone know what state this Costco is in?
