This article, and others recently, have a feel to them that makes me think they are trying to shape our opinion of Gates away from something they find awkward and toward something that is less so. Maybe by focusing our attention on Gates' relationship with his ex-girlfriend and his utilization of strippers we'll overlook, or forget about, his Epstein connection. Or his desire to kill billions of people.
