I'm confused. I wasn't at first but the more I read about this, the less definite I am about who need to eventually lead Myanmar.
My understanding - Elections last year essentially put in the same civilian slate that was already incumbent in office. The Military half of the governing body (as opposed to the Civilian side) determined that the elections were stolen and vote was manipulated to achieve that effect, much like the US vote in 2020.
So, at first, Coup = Good. Now, however, I see the Military has killed 26 protesters and has jailed hundreds of others, and not much else is happening, except a random "VP charged with Treason" charge, which doesn't feel like a real 'happening' because I don't see any other movement coming out of Myanmar. (No restructuring of the govt, no movement towards elections, etc.)
So, the longer the Military is in sole, forced control of the government, the less attractive the Military appears. More like a Pakistan military 'took-over and never left' arrangement.
Please educate me - nothing is clear-cut in my opinion here.
This guy's gets me. I was all for the gov revolting but now I see them killing civies and that shit ain't right.
