When I was in school, we sang songs like "Old Black Joe," "Uncle Ned," and "Massa's In De Cold, Cold Ground."

"I wish I was in de land ob cotton, old times dar are not forgotten."

You didn't live back in the good old days. We sang the songs in dialect exactly as written. The song book we used was the same one my mother used when she was in school in the 30s and early 40s. I have her copy in my vast library.
