I read the article and searched "Snopes" (gag) for alternative seals in use...no luck. Searched "Whitehouse", "Archives", various Encyclopediae, even Wikipedia...

Every place I look refers to:

"The words, "Seal of the President of the United States" surround the seal on a tan field."

That's why I posed the question...There are a lot of people here who are a lot smarter than I.

Still, just have questions...
