In Los Angeles in the Catholic high schools throughout the county the archdiocese travels to China every year to recruit high school students. The incoming freshmen will be sent with a chaperone. The family will buy a home (for cash) the student will live in that home for the four years of high school. Most will end up at SoCal colleges - mainly UCLA.
For high school they pay top dollar for tuition - most local students will qualify for discounts depending on grades and parent income... but for the Chinese it’s literally pay to play.
I know some Catholic high schools where Chinese makes up half of the student body. The rest of the schools it’s 1/4.
The grossest part, the home purchase. The market is so wacky in the area because the all cash buyer and they aren’t even legal citizens. Try buying a home in China as an American... see how well that works out.
