My college roommate’s parents immigrated from China.
Her uncle has been arrested, jailed, threatened, and essentially de-personed for speaking against the regime.
When Hong Kong was happening, they were terrified he was going to get himself killed.
It is a matter of life and death. Of course they’re not going to go around blabbing their hate for Xi so an idiot Westerner farming likes can post them on video on YouTube where they can be ID’ed and imprisoned in a re-education camp.
Sure, pretend the hive mind defensiveness is not all over Weibo or WeChat. Pretend people on the streets aren't fussing about the latest "insult to China" they heard from state media. Pretend they're all well-intentioned and just scared to speak out. What a load of crap. As I said above, it's part of the culture. WWG1WGA is as natural as breathing to them.
What an incredible middle finger to the people attempting to fight back against an oppressive regime you fail to comprehend.
You are currently posting freely on a social media platform. They cannot do that. They have social rating systems that limit their ability to function in society if they dissent, and their government runs all forms of communication.
They currently have religious and political dissenters locked in “re-education camps” where the women are raped for essentially $15 by Han men. The Falun Gong and Uighurs get their organs harvested for the highest bidder.
They do not have the right to bear arms, the right to a free press, the right to assembly. They rely on community money lenders and mobs if they aren’t incredibly wealthy due to the financial system being rigged against them.
Furthermore, how do you know they aren’t using bots like on 4chan?
Sickening what this board is becoming. Cheering for a supposed defector then claiming everyone in the mainland is complicit in the crimes of the CCP is a logical fallacy at best. It takes for granted our hard fought freedoms and the very real, oppressively terrifying situation over there at worst.
You clearly continue to miss the point. They aren't coerced to be like pack animals; it's how they live. The person extends to the family, the family extends to the community, the community extends to the region, and the region extends to the country. A "loss of face" to ANYTHING Chinese is a loss of face to THE Chinese; it's personal. They're one and the same to them.
(I'm completely fine with that part of their culture, by the way. It's just something of which to be aware when dealing with them. Very few will really be allies.)
Also, nobody said they're complicit in the crimes of the CCP. You're creating your own logical fallacies.

You literally posted this before this comment.
It seemed strange to me too when I was proofreading it. But that's really how they act; almost like the Borg.
Maybe there's a message there? It's a lot to read through, but I think I'll start looking for links between WWG1WGA and China.
