That last one is great but aside from obnoxious public figures your going to have a hell of a time enforcing it. Is the priest just going to walk down the line "hey, are you down with abortion"?
Its pomp and circumstance with no actual substance. A bargaining chip so you wont start getting even louder about all of their CCP connections, kid diddling, corrupt leadership, failure to protect the faithful from the CCP, etc.
I don't blame the faithful for the actions at the top but I do hold them accountable for their blind support, after a certain point its a little hard to understand why you keep shouting "save the children" and handing them your money when none of this corruption is remotely isolated. Its akin to the Israel debate where for religious reasons you blindly support Israel. Its always a "well those are people at the top"...well...is that not the same thing were fighting globally? Until Catholics get honest with themselves about the state of their church nothing will change-why would it? You keep paying them don't you?
I agree with everything you said and with some clarification that supports your point. There are plenty of priests and bishops that condone abortion so I believe this announcement is twofold.
1- it’s an announcement to the clergy to get their shit straight ( clean up their own house)
2- if a Catholic public figure wants to politicize the subject and promote abortion on Saturday, they can expect refusal on Sunday.
There is no way the Catholic Church would police the flock nor could they and so the message isn’t to the average joe and Mary who come to church every Sunday who keep to themselves but all the institutions that rely on Catholic Church funding (think the Philadelphia Supreme Court ruling last week)
