New York Attorney General Letitia James announced on Saturday that Johnson & Johnson has agreed to halt sales of opioids nationwide in a $230 million settlement with New York state. As part of the settlement, the company will resolve opioids-related claims and allocate payments over nine years. It could also pay $30 million more in the first year if the state executive chamber signs into law new legislation creating an opioid settlement fund, according to the press release from James’ office.
“The opioid epidemic has wreaked havoc on countless communities across New York state and the rest of the nation, leaving millions still addicted to dangerous and deadly opioids,” James said in a statement.
“Johnson & Johnson helped fuel this fire, but today they’re committing to leaving the opioid business — not only in New York, but across the entire country,” she said.

What about people who are genuinely dealing with severe chronic pain? These people suffer because the DEA is breathing down the necks of every doctor with a license and making threats. In turn, the doctors fear any liability.
What do you think people will turn to? Black market heroin? Don't think that desperation won't leave that on the table. The DEA needs to be eradicated. They have been a constant thorn in the side of freedom and liberty, telling people that they're too fucking dumb to exercise personal responsibility while ruining countless lives in the process.
Severe chronic pain does not need opioids to correct. Its a trap. Few people medically actually need opioids and there are many great alternatives.
You describe addiction. No pain elief is worth the pain of addiction.
That's a very broad stroke you're painting. I've known several people who use many alternatives but still need opiods to have quality of life.
And what would those great alternatives be?
I have heard good things about the likes of marijuana for various therapies.
LDN for one
And healing the root cause of the pain.
Opiods have their place in therapy and Letitia James is a Soros shill who has no place in society. What's the whole story here?
It is incredibly sad that those who have chronic pain are made to feel like common criminals just because they must rely on opiods in order to have some quality of life. :-(
There Re many alternatives if you don't listen to the medical profession.
What if one has tried all the alternatives?
Such as?
So the real problem is the black market but to deal with them.... nah... there's no money in it. This is beyond transparent it is exactly the same play they always make for the guns, go after the perfectly legal ones.
Mmmm. Mass withdrawal from opioids? Messy.
Not going to happen. The black market opiate trade is about to boom. You'll see far more deaths than previously.
I take it we are all turning straight around and going back to Afghanistan then?
Yeah, that's not at all what I'm implying here. What I'm saying is that opiates DO have a place. Is it good for long-term use? Absolutely not but it can be highly effective otherwise.
Note how J&J has been getting picked-out as of late? I’m NOT defending them, so pack-it-in now, just saying? WHY would they be? The REALLY worse Big Pharma corps don’t get this attention. Much of the opiate production was NOT J&J. Much of Perdue Pharmas grasp was doled out to generic manufacturers. My ex girlfriend NEEDS pain relief cuz of fibromyalgia. She’s panicking over this ☝?. Her nephew is a junkie who almost broke into her house yesterday. I have small pity for the drugs being GONE. I’m personally recovered too...4 years this month. Big Pharma/health”SCARE” industries almost killed me several times...AND I SURVIVED SEVERAL WARS?!! (More dangerous than war). Fuqq Big Pharma & fuqq Health-scare. We gotta get back to basics EVERYWHERE. So...why J&J? Talc, Vaccine (only non-mRna one) & now opiates? I heard back where J&J didn’t play DS ball...?!!
One note...for those wanting to kick opiates use KRATOM. The compounds are similar to opiates but not opiates. It CURBS WITHDRAWALS. Ignore MSM scare stories about “dangers”. Do not use with SSRI’s tho...serotonin syndrome not fun. Anyway it IS mildly addictive as is coffee...kratom and coffee are in same plant family. The withdrawals (daily multiple usage) are mild...NOTHING like opiates severity. However it will get one off opiate withdrawals if administered with professional attention. I’m not a Dr.
Yes, I only suggest as a temporary measure to get off opiates...not a new lifestyle ??
