I think the J & J shot is actually a vaccine while the others are relying on either RNA or DNA insertion.

DNA gets transcribed to RNA, which then serves as the blueprint for your cell's machinery to manufacture the spike protein. It's one step removed from the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines.
India has a non-replicating vaccine that the FDA just recently did not greenlight for emergency use... didn't slip the FDA enough $$$, I guess.
