I think the J & J shot is actually a vaccine while the others are relying on either RNA or DNA insertion.

OK, you may be right. I just saw this:

The Johnson & Johnson shot uses a weakened common cold virus, called an adenovirus, as a vehicle to deliver a single coronavirus gene into human cells.

And that sounded like a conventional vaccine to me, but I am no expert.

The article goes on to say:

That gene then provides the instructions for making the SARS-CoV-2 spike protein.

So I don't know.

DNA gets transcribed to RNA, which then serves as the blueprint for your cell's machinery to manufacture the spike protein. It's one step removed from the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines.

India has a non-replicating vaccine that the FDA just recently did not greenlight for emergency use... didn't slip the FDA enough $$$, I guess.
