It looks like a continuation of the investigation of Cardinal Pell into the Vatican finances. Pell went through a trial and was convicted for child molestation which was eventually thrown out in the high court, there was loads of this in the media at the time.

So, it seems another DS hatchet job has gone astray, it looks very much as if when Pell started digging into the Vatican finances rather large shaming devices were placed in his path.

Now he looks to be exposing the financial (and other) secrets of the Vatican.
