SD, did any of you see the bright thing come down in the sky?

I was in my backyard and just saw a bright light come down like a comet above what looked like Mira Mar airspace or maybe Gillespie Field. There was no blast or light when it looked like it would hit. (sterotypical voice, I don never seen nothing like that before.)

I guess I didnt paint a good enough picture. It came straight down like a missle at a 90 degree angle shaped like a bright white comment. it didnt go across the sky.

99+% likely a meteorite. Very few reach the ground in one bright piece.

I saw one that light up the whole neighborhood in bright green for about 2 seconds,

The Perseids were first visible beginning July 14, but will last through August 24. The peak is expected around August 11-13. Clear skies are key to viewing the meteor shower. It is visible in some places as early as 10 p.m., but the nightly peak is between 2 a.m. and sunrise.

Thanks for this info didnt know it was a thing going on now. Ive seen meteor showers before over my life but never one the size I saw and never one that traveled straight down. Something to watch for more now That I know its going on.
