It freaks out the intended bad guys, and that's the point.
If all the bad guys had a secret word that only they knew, and you made a bombshell video saying the secret word, would it not look like a little deal to those who are outside of the secret?
They know what they did, and I bet there's many a black hat IT guy having to hear "They're talking about PXD, PXC, something like that, do you know what that is" before immediately panicking "SHIT THEY'RE ONTO US!"
There was nothing there to show that they were connected to the internet, only that the software has a provision for that option. You would still need the hardware in order to make the connection.
In fact the wifi options were disabled in that clip and the guy stated they do not have the password to access the admin options (BIOS level).
Unless they can prove that the system was loaded via PXE over a network then that's a dead end.
I can only hope that they have more than this to go on.
Why was the LAN adapter enabled? Also, before someone says "LAN is local area network you dumdum", it's commonly referred to as "LAN adapter" in BIOS even though what it technically should say is "Onboard Ethernet adapter".
So not only was the LAN adapter enabled, but it was enabled with PXE.
As for the LAN adapters, these would also be required to setup an 'intranet' (internal network).
It doesn't prove that any machines were connected to the 'internet'.
It does however give credence for the need to inspect the routers or their logs although I suspect these have long been wiped.
Is that it? Don't think that's gonna have any impact on anything.

We're not talking about the wifi settings in the BIOS. Also, they DID have the BIOS passwords, and they were released last night.
What we're concerned with is the LAN adapter.
See here.

Well let's wait and see where this leads.
