In CA it's perfectly fine to fold the ballot.

Lol! Wow. Part of the voting fraud investigations that possibly contributed was folded ballots. Especially if it's over a bubble that isn't filled in. Makes the machine see 2 filled in bubbles. Can cause the ballot to have to be manually adjudicated, and then they can change who the person voted for.
