Had a friend who lived with his mother while she was sick. He had a part German Shepard mix. When her cancer was in remission the dog was pretty chill. When she was sick the dog was super over protective. This happened probably three to four times over 5 years. It was a very strange thing. Just making an observation…….

Friend of mine had a Lab that was by his side practically all time. One evening while he was sitting on the sofa watching TV the dog started pressing it's nose into his lower stomach then pacing nervously around the room. This happened a few times on consecutive evenings. Then one evening my friend's appendix ruptured and he had to have emergency surgery. He's convinced his Lab could detect something was wrong because that's the general area where it kept nuzzling him.
Dogs have a 6th sense ... Without a word spoken and just using thought I have watched my girlfriends lab leave the room when there is negative energy, and come in the room when there is positive energy. I have witnessed thius too many times to be a coincidence... Strange ability I think humans lost along the way... Maybe dog com connection somewhere...
My dog was the same when my mom was sick.
My family’s late, great German Shepherd was always anxious & protective when I got sick & stayed in bed. She’d lay across me facing the bedroom door and growl at anyone who came in. The best girl. ❤️
Good observation— our rat terrier was very protective of family member in grief — rough collie very attentive to illness in family member — Vizsla totally aware of any distress— German Shepherd and Belgian malinois are highly attached and protective of their ward ( flock- kids or senile old man)
I also believe there’s no “ bad” dogs —just bad humans that f$&:d them up
