The great western author Louis L'Amour liked to state and he wrote it into several of his books, that one man with a shotgun could stand off several dozen of the opposing force becuase everyone knew that, while the force would overwhelm the shooter eventually, the first one to move would get the full load of buckshot. We have to overcome this fear to do as Andrew suggests. Someone will have to be willing to take the legal buckshot so that the numbers can overwhelm them.
