She had brain cancer. It metastasized. Some of the tumors were operable, chemo/radiation was recommended. She rejected all allopathic options and did about five months of coffee enemas, instead. And then she died.
Thanks. It was really hard on my mom, who had pretty much raised her. There's a lesson about Dignity of Risk in there, respecting people enough to let them make their own decisions, no matter how much one might disagree. I think most people who have dealt in any kind of serious way with close friends or family who have serious mental health issues or addictions, come to eventually grasp how important respecting a person's right to choice and bodily autonomy are. But the knee jerk instinct is always to try to control other people, have them do what we believe to right for them.
