William Tecumseh Sherman, George Patton, Ulysses Grant, Dwight Eisenhower, Douglas McArthur. Any one of these would have cleaned up the house in short order.

But the difference was that in their day we wanted to win and go home. In Afghanistan, we just wanted to increase the defense budget and make people wealthy.
