That was tried once and the result was catastrophic, with 750,000 dead. That more or less settled the secession question. What NH should do is renounce any fealty to the Federal Government, but remain in the Union. After all, it was the STATES that created the Federal government, not the other way around.
Side Note: How sure are we about the astronomical numbers of soldiers that were reported to have been killed in the Civil War which occurred at the beginning of the 1860s?
I rounded that number, but most sources I've read on the Civil War (including a visit to the Franklin, TN, civil war battle site last week) seem to agree that the number is in that vicinity. I know birth and death records may not have bee fully institutionalized back then, but military units generally knew their own strength and numbers.
no no no, united we stand, divided we fall. we need to unify and purge the corruption.
Why not unite under a government separate from DC?
Agreed.. it's time to get rid of the fed.
If we could get all 50 states to do it we could secede from DC, but that's quite a task. The 50 states DO need to stay united.
Seceding is a dumb idea. You don’t run from the enemy you gain ground.
Bingo!
This! 👆👆👆
NH, I know it's hard seemingly being surrounded in a sea of blue but stay with the USA and get yourselves together! Let's work on you getting stronger first, then you help get ME red again, then the two of you take back the rest of New England from the crazies together.

"Now, for what you have all been waiting for, the legal analysis: At the culmination of the Civil War, the United States Supreme Court decided Texas v. White, which started as a dispute over bonds issued in Texas during the war. Texas attempted to leave the United States when it supported the Confederacy, where it supplied troops to fight with the rebel forces. The United States Supreme Court established a new constitutional principle in Texas v. White, holding that states cannot unilaterally secede.
Chief Justice Salmon P. Chase stated: “When Texas became one of the United States, she entered into an indissoluble relation. All the obligations of perpetual union, and all the guaranties of republican government in the Union, attached at once to the state. The Act, which consummated her admission into the Union, was something more than a compact; it was the incorporation of a new member into the political body. And it was final.”
If it doesn’t seem hard enough to secede, some constitutional scholars say that secession could be considered treason under the Articles of the Constitution. In an article for the Kansas City Star, Akhil Reed Amar, Sterling Professor of Law and Political Science at Yale University, discussed the Supremacy Clause in Article 6 of the United States Constitution.
“What the Constitution says repeatedly is once you’re in (as a state), you’re in. If people want to secede, they are allowed to leave; they just can’t take the land and the water with them. There is a lawful way to secede – it’s called emigration. They can move to Canada,” Amar wrote."

yes, they gave us the remedy, or duty actually, to "alter or abolish" it. not reject and run away.
Indivisible means INDIVISIBLE. Dont throw the baby out with the bathwater, New Hampshire! The USA is worth fighting for. (If you insist on Independence, maybe Newfoundland and Labrador could fill the void. Its what we wouldve chosen in the first place, given the opportunity.)
I see the 1860s are making a return.
Let's get 47 states to join them
The question is if they really have the intestinal fortitude to come to a meaningful decision.
"this is great news!" -idiots
How the hell would dividing the country into separate countries possibly work with Q's plan? Anyone?
I dont think DC is our country. I think DC is a district of corruption. I think every state should walk away from DC
But the UNITED STATES is! So states are no longer united, how the hell is that supposed to be a good thing? We can not do this by splitting up.
The United States is a corporation headquartered in DC and owned/operated by the Crown/Vatican empire.
The United States of America is a confederation of sovereign States united under the Constitution.
