Assange won't ever be freed without the govt receiving assurances from him they he'll never sue for wrongful imprisonment, entrapment, etc. He isn't going anywhere any time soon.

Also, give a prosecutor enough time, and they'll hang you for just about any crime they can come up with. Even if it's a total and complete fabrication.
