This was the part that made me think he was a fishy guy right in the beginning (and his connections to vaccine industry).
But Shiva has proven himself to be solid as solid can be. Apparently he build an email system early in the early Internet days - perhaps inventor is a bit of an exaggeration, but at this point who cares - let him have that glory, he has earned it!
Shiva is too amazing to lead with that as his biggest accomplishment. His other work is far more impressive and interesting.
But that claim always gets people to do a double take and run a search on him - its pretty clever is you ask me.
He was awarded the original patent so he's telling the truth. The fact-check sites will tell you that he didn't invent it since he used a different name. "E-mail" wasn't "invented" until a few years later...that's their argument at least. Dr. Shiva is brilliant.
