Someone was talking about dreams they believed to be prophetic. Someone, actually a couple people began to discredit their dreams as something you can’t trust and they said that Jesus never said any of those things were for us today. I commented with several scriptures from both old and new testament about both discerning the voice of God, testing the Spirits and prophecy and the powers of the Holy Spirit and they finally stopped retorting, yet I found this disturbing as most people as well as myself were both sharing personal experiences and scriptures as well as prayers and encouragement.

A lot of people think parts of the Bible are outdated or obsolete.
I think it’s usually a lack of understanding and context of what is written in the Bible.
That, and human arrogance.
I firmly believe that God works through His prophets.
Amen and the entire Bible is still relevant
Amen
Arrogance. Every word of the Bible is true. Every single one.
And God did not put any extra words in there.
Amen
Ask yourself, why isn't God speaking to or through those people? Perhaps they don't have a personal relationship with Him, or maybe they are still in the nursing stage of learning the Bible. On the flip side I rarely believe people who say they are prophets. I don't discount them all but I don't jump on prophet bandwagons either.
That’s funny, I just got through basically writing the same as you with slightly differing words before reading what you wrote. It is necessary to test the spirits and pray for discernment in all things.before believing anything or anyone which could be questionable including dreams, prophetic or any pastors, even for understanding of scriptures. BI at times struggle with what is literal, visions, dreams, prophecy, history or parable and discerning them.
I firmly believe that the Holy Spirit dwells within us once we've been saved, and when I tell people I usually go by my gut feeling, I am 100% convinced it is the Holy Spirit leading me. It takes years of study, I believe to rightly divide the word of God. The Bible is a literal book and not up for interpretation so, to me, if it doesn't pass the Bible and gut test I just pass it by.
Amen
The Bible is God's revealed word. Some bits have been misunderstood and taken out of context through ignorance or to push certain agendas. The closer you get to God, the greater the understanding and the ability to discern as His Spirit leads us.
That said, there are some great bible teachers who have valuable insights: Dr Randall Smith is one I trust and respect. His One Hour One Book and other videos on YT a excellent.
Agreed, we’ve had to watch more and more closely for pastors who don’t avoid the difficult subjects though
Its either God's word or compromise. Those who choose the latter are wolves in sheep's clothing.
Gods Word is inerrant!
Amen
Where's this group? That's crazy

Oh I get it. You meant the community as a whole lol I thought you meant a specific fb group or something 🤣 carry on fren
I don't see the discussion over there.
If it is them, a word of caution, not too long ago, an earnest soul came unto them asking where he could be baptized immediately and they all laughed at him. Told him he had to go to indoc first. For 3 or 4 weeks, minimum. I saw this, prayed for the dude, while remembering John standing in the river receiving all, and sent him a pm. Never heard back.
The mission over there is quite simple, the ushering in of the one world religion with the rcc at the head.
God does also, therefore we MUST test the spirits and use discernment
God does as well
We just have to listen carefully and ask for discernment and focus on whether it aligns with God’s word in the Bible or not
Hi Juls, I'm sorry I didn't notice this thread timely because I was working on the site revamp. I faintly remember some discussion on dreams where you posted Scripture but now I'm not finding the post with the data you provided. I'm pretty sure it was just a situation of having different views on the interpretation or weight of your Scriptures, because if someone had posted a flat-out direction to disregard the Bible we probably would've intervened. If my memory is wrong please let me know.
I'm sorry you were disturbed, and we now have better rules for combatting disruption in threads about personal experience. Anytime something is not right please click "message the moderators" in the c/Christianity sidebar. Thank you for bringing this to our attention even if indirectlly.
Will do. Not sure how to go back and find it now
The thing is, even baby Christians who are basically (drinking milk and not yet eating solids) in their understanding and lack of knowledge and understanding of the Bible and God’s word and even myself who prays constantly and seeks discernment and wisdom and is in the word at times have difficult in grasping the full meaning of scripture. Therefore ignorance leads many to come up with their dumb retorts.
