It always bothered me when churches “required” you to commit to a percentage of your income and provided the envelopes for you to put your name on as proof that you were providing what you promised. I decided a church could be anywhere-at home, at a park, etc., wherever you spoke or prayed to God. I get that churches have expenses, but demanding a certain tithe is bothersome to me.
Tithing comes from the Bible, FYI. The reason you are provided envelopes that you put your name on is because its tax deductible. You are given a statement at the end of the year.
Not that it can’t or isn’t abused in certain cases, but in general there are reasons for each.
What's with this nonsense about this current faggot pope? The vatican has been a satanic org for centuries. You think it was this pope who was in charge when they found the bodies of hundreds of children over hundreds of years buried in their little secret bunkers?
It is interesting to watch human nature kick in. We all know the stories from the New Testament. We saw how Jesus was not one for much conspicuous wealth or large bureaucracies. In fact, he used a donkey one week and got headlines everywhere!
Further down the line, when Christianity was catching on, the usual power-hungry psychopaths spotted an opportunity. If we install an organisation to look after this new religion, they thought, we might end up with power and wealth. We will need to live in palaces, obviously, and have lots of servants and subordinates.
We could tax the followers and use that to acquire properties all over the world and we would be in charge of it all.
It would not surprise me to discover that His Holiness had been offered the job of Global Religious Supremo in the New World Order. Hence his occasional outreaches to other religions.
Now we see it in places like the environmental movement. First, people just work to have a clean planet then the psychos move in and create organisations like Greenpeace and the World Wildlife Fund and even the EPA. They all acquire wealth and access to movers and shakers the world over. Their job is to acquire power and wealth and the rank and file enviros just need to do enough to keep the organisation relevant. No need to actually improve the environment.
YES. I didn't mind putting money in the cup at prayer meeting - everyone was there to pray, it was at night, everyone had a 'day job' and no one told you what you had to believe or werent permitted to believe.
Most 'christian' churches have a zillion rules - demand that you believe what they believe including who is and who is not going to heaven. I've always wondered how God felt about that but figure He'll work it out in the end. Hopefully, after trying our best, we will meet our loved ones, all the unbaptized babies, and our sincerely missed doggies!
