It’s all in the title. Why? Big Pharma pays the bills. It seems to me that these shows would never be green lit.
Why now? (Or 2 years ago, these take time to make.)
This is literally a question I said out loud to my wife this morning, we are going to start watching Dopesick tonight (I love Michael Keaton) and it just hit me as odd. (If you follow Goliath on Amazon, the storyline this final season also follows a fictional company who made a shit ton on Opiods.)
It just seems weird. I will have a better idea once I watch these shows completely, but thought maybe others had thoughts on this.
Maybe because the CIA and Deep State aren't making money on opioids anymore, because their access to Afghanistan and the poppy fields has been cut off?
Perhaps because hearing about people struggling with opioid addiction is DEPRESSING. They want you depressed and focused on suffering and crisis.
We haven’t started Dopesick yet. I am actually worried. I respect Michael Keaton. I hope he is not involved in some sort of diversionary tactic.
A few episodes into Goliath I feel like they are making the whole Big Pharma issue a cartoon. Like if you believe the FDA and Pharma are in cahoots then you must believe in these bombastic cartoon like characters existing.
That’s my first thought.
7 episodes into Goliath and they are 100 fucking percent painting a picture that portrays anyone that believes Big Pharma is at fault believes in the ultra ridiculous.
TBH this is a brilliant move.
