I heartily agree. Coercion is literally a crime, and government is nothing more than a way to use coercion with impunity. Of course, we are told since early childhood that we NEED coercive government and that we wouldn't stand a chance without it; it's FOR OUR OWN GOOD just as Big Pharma (and the government, and the media, and seemingly everyone else) assures us that we NEED those Poison Death Shots (as Dr. Zelenko calls them).
As long as we HAVE a coercive government, keeping it SMALL goes a long way towards making it civilized and keeping the people safe; thus the magic of an earlier America, which actually became "an asylum [haven] for Mankind" as Thomas Paine put it. But again, you are correct; as Thoreau put it, "That government is best which governs not at all."
