I can confirm. It may be because of COVID. My mother was in the hospital earlier this year and every time I went to visit her, they did a temperature check, then issues a wristband before I was allowed in. At the time, she was only allowed one family member to visit and it had to be the main person in charge. My name was on file and only I was allowed in.
It lets staff know you are allowed in and are a partner/carer for a patient. Common for multi day stays.
