Many, my rural area has people moving in from the likes of California, Washington, and DC (God help us) to work remotely. It is significant enough that our dead real estate market has inflated in value 100k to 200k in the last year. There is a couple who has a kid in my kid's class and their work is in DC and I swear they are spooks out here spying on us.
The real estate market is doing that everywhere. The rumors are that companies like Blackrock are buying up all available real estate.
I do concrete construction. About 80% is residential. Ive been doing it since 1988. I have never seen a market like this.
Builders are raising prices 20% trying to slow it down because they cant keep up with demand and that isnt stopping it. Contractors like me are overwhelmed because nobody wants to work any longer and we cant find help. The help we do find is mostly useless and lazy. Even offering a months wage after 90 days work, Ive only had 1 guy and 1 girl make it that far. Skilled tradesmen name their own price. My payroll has increased 50% even while my work force has declined by 50%.
Even the dotcom boom wasnt this busy. Not even close. We are working 7 12s and cant keep up. I think about retiring daily as my kids are grown and gone, my house is paid for and my properties up north are paid for as well.
