If they're on our side. In another scenario, this is a really good way to nationalize just about every aspect of the country and install armed guards at key points everywhere in society. Every fascist regime in the world eventually tries this kind of thing. I'm not particularly thrilled with the military doing civilian jobs. Put in other words, that's how you implement martial law.
The military is a very important source of power in any society. When Roman legions marched into Rome, that was the end of the Republic and the beginning of the Empire.
Yes. I can see this point as well. If Q hadn't said military was the only way, that's 100% what I'd be thinking. I don't dismiss it as a possibility, however this country a way bigger space to spread that many troops out than Europe, etc.
