It is strange that everyone is saying this is a photo of him in emotional turmoil. Zoom in on his face. It looks like a pleased grin to me. Are people just seeing “emotional turmoil” because that is what they are being told to see?
It would be interesting to show this photo to someone who hasn’t heard the story and just ask them, “What emotion do you think the man in this photo is feeling?”
I don’t think people would look at it and say, “This is a photo of a man in a state of emotional devastation.”
