We keep thinking Red October refers only to the movie but Q has mentioned this has double meanings. We know Red October also refers to the Russian Revolution of 1917 when communism first took hold. The insurrection occurred on Oct 25th (old style calendar) which would actually now be Nov 7 (by the new style calendar). Remember too when Trump kept talking about the pandemic of 1917, all the media heads thought he was referring to the Spanish flu of 1918 and mistakenly saying 1917 instead. I think the whole time he was referring to the pandemic of communism that first took hold in 1917 as we know this is the true disease we are fighting today. This being said I wonder if we aren’t looking at overthrowing communism on the same anniversary that it took hold, which by today’s calendar would be Nov 7th. Just a thought

"... the pandemic of communism that first took hold in 1917..."
To extend your metaphor...
"When Lenin learned of this from his base in Switzerland, he celebrated with other dissidents.[127] He decided to return to Russia to take charge of the Bolsheviks but found that most passages into the country were blocked due to the ongoing conflict. He organised a plan with other dissidents to negotiate a passage for them through Germany, with whom Russia was then at war. Recognising that these dissidents could cause problems for their Russian enemies, the German government agreed to permit 32 Russian citizens to travel in a sealed train carriage through their territory, among them Lenin and his wife.[128] The group travelled by train from Zürich to Sassnitz, proceeding by ferry to Trelleborg, Sweden, and from there to the Haparanda–Tornio border crossing and then to Helsinki before taking the final train to Petrograd in disguise."

The German government quarantined the 32 infected dissident Russians in a sealed train for that portion of the trip though German territory thus facilitating the dissidents' return to Russia via Sweden and Finland. Petrograd was the first city in Russia to have the vaccination mandate strictly implemented.
One of the more effective techniques of the Mongols in laying siege to cities was to camp some distance from the target city, the advance guard of the main forces having captured a score or so of the slower fleeing local population, secure them in a poorly constructed holding area for a couple of weeks, expose them to plague or other infectious disease of one kind or another, and then "allow" them to escape to the target city, exposing the now crowded city to the disease. The Mongols would keep their distance until things were so bad in the city the inhabitants (the rich still-well fed ones were usually the first to venture out seeking terms of surrender or offering to pay for safe passage) and refugees would leave either under a pledge to allow surrender or simply flee out of fear (and hunger by that time) and the Mongols would massacre the majority, only enslaving healthy craftsmen and a few of the healthy women. There were of course, other variations and techniques of laying siege, and it didn't always end in a massacre. The most effective way to avoid a siege was to simply send envoys before the Mongols even thought of invading your region, surrender and start paying tribute. A variation on the theme of John Kerry style diplomacy, just nip it in the bud and offer to surrender your sovereignty before your protagonist gets it in his head to attack.
Boy do we live in interesting times.

Great stuff, as usual. The Germans were brilliant to send Lenin, a virus, back into Russia to infect and disrupt the population, eventually pulling Russia out of the war. Of course, the can of communism was now opened and spread much, much more than perhaps envisioned. First, the Russian Empire is dismantled by the Bolsheviks. China eventually falls. Red scare after red scare. The pandemic of communism spreads worldwide. These people are sick.
Something else to ponder, did the German leadership in 1917 just underestimate the eventual destructive force of communism, or were they perhaps duped into sending Lenin back to Russia, by puppet masters who knew the true extent of Lenin's potential to spread the virus of communism?
Lenin was a plant by the Rothschild’s. The Rothschilds have had a beef with Russia going all the way back to when they were known as Kazarians. It continues to this day. Remember Putin kicking out the world banks here just recently. The world banks are heavily controlled by non other than the Rothschilds. The saga continues
