Fruits and vegetables are not nearly as good for you as many people claim.
They are actually LOW in nutrients ... for HUMANS. The key is not the amount of something in them. The key is the BIOAVAILABILITY of that something for HUMANS. Nobody ever talks about this.
For example, soy has the highest protein of any plant food. But, only about 5% of that protein is absorbed by the human body to utilize. Egg protein is 98% absorbed. On top of that, soy and all other plants are missing essential amino acids. ALL plant foods are missing aminio acids, and what they have are in the wrong proportions for humans. Eggs and ALL animal foods have ALL the essential amino acids, and they are in the right proportions for humans.
Our stomachs are the most acidic of any mammal, at 1.5 ph level. Our stomachs are designed to break up proteins and fats, not carbohydrates. We have ZERO bacteria in our stomachs, unlike cows who have billions of bacteria in the first chamber of their stomachs. Bacteria are the ONLY thing on planet Earth that can digest cellulose. Our bacteria for this are in our colon -- at the END of our digestive system, not the beginning.
Vitamin A - There are NO plant foods with Vitamin A. A few have beta carotene, and some people can covert some of it to Vit. A, but not everyone can, and it is not efficient.
Vitamin B complex - Plants do not have B12.
Vitamin C - Meat is thought to have no Vit. C, but that is because they never tested for it back when all those charts were created. It turns out, meat does have some.
Vitamin D - This was misidentified when it was discovered. It is not a vitamin. It is a hormone. Our bodies use sunlight to convert cholesterol to Vit. D. Plants do not have animal hormones.
Iron - Spinach has the most iron of any plant food. But it is the wrong kind for humans. It is non-heme iron, which is not easily absorbed by humans. Beef has heme iron, which is the right kind. You have to eat 10 cups of spinach to get the same amount of iron absorbed as if you eat 3 ounces of beef.
Zinc - Oysters have the most zinc of any food. But if you eat those oysters with corn and beans, the anti-nutrients in the corn and beans will block the absorption of any of that zinc.
There has NEVER been a study that showed that vegetables are actually healthy for you. For an interesting lecture on this, check out Dr. Georgia Eads:
Animal product diet aka carnivore works wonders for me! So many foods are anti-nutrients too. Raw spinich actually ends up working against the body. They push spinich so hard! Such liars!
Periodic fasting is also VERY important for health and longevity. If you're not familiar with water fasting for 3-5+ days I would highly recommend doing some research about it and start incorporating it into your lifestyle.
Water (only) fasting is the best thing, bar none, that I have ever done for my health. I usually do a 7-10 day water (only) fast every quarter. In between I intermittent fast (16/8) daily.
You need carbohydrates to start the pyruvic acid cycle that metabolizes your nutrients into your biochemistry. Without it, you will lose tons of weight because your body isn't using any of your other food.
No they actually are not. Ill give you one example you can look into and start if you want to look more into it.
A lot of plants emit toxins when they are cut or damaged in some way, its actually a defense mechanism that many plants actually have.
I looked into this at one point cause I was doing a diet of basically 3 oz of meat, a lot of veggies, and I was doing a lot of juicing (thinking this was how I loose weight).
During that time I suffered from calcium kidney stones 3 times over the course of 1 year. My husband (boyfriend at the time) told me to stop drinking the juice cause that is what was causing them, I thought he was crazy till I did a little digging.
You also loose a ton of weight on just veggies cause your starving your body of any actual nutrients it needs. Thats why most real vegans look like skeletons. The ones that are fat eat nothing but sugar and sweets.
Just look up vegan videos on youtube, some of them are seriously scary looking.
Juicing is bad for you, not eating fruits and vegetables. How many apples can you eat in one sitting? Now guess how many apples it takes to make apple juice. Juicing also tends to remove the pulp, which has a purpose of slowing down the uptake of sugar into the bloodstream.
It probably depends on where you are deficient or damaged. It’s important to get key nutrients.
I’m by no means vegan. I love an appropriate amount of meat and fat. I get the fattiest meat I can get. I love bacon.
But in college when I was eating mostly meat and carbs, low fruit and veggie I was not as well. Had sensitive stomach problems. I am more careful with where my meat and carbs come from though now. Cured my lactose intolerance I got then.
I am healthier with a balance of aromatics, fruits, and more veggies. I personally like spinach, arugula, avocados, okra, broccoli, ginger, brussel sprouts, turmeric, shallots, garlic, mushrooms, bok choy, celery, cilantro, parsley, green onions, berries, peaches, pears, and recently radish leaves.
There is also something called The Gerson Therapy. Which is a juice/plant diet for curing cancer and all other sorts of "incurable" diseases. Been around since the 1930s curing shit. However they have ONE animal product in that plan and its liver supplements. When you starve the body of sugar, you starve the cancer and other things of its food source to survive. Not a lot of fruit in that diet. But again, look up vegans and look at how malnourished they get.
Food has changed over the years which is probably another reason it fucks us up. With the use of genetically modified plants its hard to get away from. Maybe this is why it fucks our bodies up so much? I just know eating no animal products will destroy your body.
I think it’s important to stay away from gmo, pesticides, herbicides etc. The plants are sprayed with chemicals and water with heavy metals and fluoride. Meat has problems too like antibiotic injecting and wrong feed. This is why it’s very important how you source your food. Allergies or sensitivity usually isn’t the food but something bad they’ve done to it. I try buy organic or companies against these practices.
I wonder if the vegans are suffering from a kind of poisoning. But I’ve heard if you go vegetarian you have to eat every 4 hours, because you need to eat a lot more if you are just eating plants. Think how cows must graze all day to eat enough.
For me a tasty, balanced, and filling healthy meal is something like pork, mushrooms, onions, sweet potatoes sautéed in butter/fat with spices over a bed of fresh greens.
I think plants help people with problems because they were likely eating dead food. Processed, preserved etc. I think raw fresh nutrients helps those people.
But what do you think of eating a portion of meal with one third veggies like lettuce, tomatoes, beetroots, radish etc, all raw, and one third meat and one third carbs ?
Fiber is defined as that part of the plant that is ... NOT DIGESTIBLE.
All that fiber goes through you digestive tract and causes abrasions that are harmful.
You do not need ANY fiber in your diet. That is a myth.
There is no nutrition in lettuce or radishes. Tomatos might have a little, and beets have something in them that convert to nitric oxide, which is good.
I have lived my life in stretches eating high fiber food and other stretches eating very low fiber food. Trust me when I say you need non digestible fiber.
rather than nutrients, you mostly lose alot of weight eating only veggies or fruits because they are almost completely devoid of calories. You could eat and entire barrel full of veggies and it would probably have less calories than a single steak.
Fruits and vegetables are not nearly as good for you as many people claim.

Then what are you supposed to eat? Just meat for breakfast, lunch, and dinner?
All animal foods: beef, pork, chicken, turkey, duck, fish, seafood, organ meats, eggs, cheese, yogurt, kefir, milk, cream, butter.
Try it. For just one day. I double-dog dare ya.
Animal product diet aka carnivore works wonders for me! So many foods are anti-nutrients too. Raw spinich actually ends up working against the body. They push spinich so hard! Such liars!
It sounds great. Could you give me some ideas of what you eat for breakfast/lunch/dinner?

I would love to, but I can hardly keep my weight at a healthy level as it is, in spite of already eating pretty much all day.
You need carbohydrates to start the pyruvic acid cycle that metabolizes your nutrients into your biochemistry. Without it, you will lose tons of weight because your body isn't using any of your other food.
This is true ... IF you eat carbs.
That is nonsense. Without dietary carbs, your body will run on fat, via ketones and fatty acids.
Ever try high meat? I’ve got 2 year old beef heart that tastes like a fine cave aged Gruyere and I get stupidly happy when I eat it

wrong.

My problems came from drinking vegetable juice greens and other veggies, not fruit juice.
Oxalic acid most likely. Spinach especially
That doesn’t mean you don’t need fruits and vegetables at all.
Try eating a meat and carb only diet, your stomach will hurt.
This lady got out of wheel chair from a mostly intensely nutritious plant diet:

A meat only diet has helped many as well. Mostly those with autoimmune diseases, like Jordan Peterson's daughter.
It probably depends on where you are deficient or damaged. It’s important to get key nutrients.

I also eat fermented and pro&pre-biotic foods.
Actually, it DOES mean that.
Keep up the good work.
Here's something else. Fruits and vegetables have been manipulated to be basically unrecognizable: https://www.sciencealert.com/fruits-vegetables-before-domestication-photos-genetically-modified-food-natural/amp

There is also idioblasts. different plants have different defense mechanisms. Depends on the plant.

I am still not sure about fruits.

But you don't really need them.
Are we just ignoring the fact that the bacteria in your gut feed off of the fiber that you eat?
My understanding is that some parts of your gut microbiome depend on good, healthy fiber for fuel.
I have lived my life in stretches eating high fiber food and other stretches eating very low fiber food. Trust me when I say you need non digestible fiber.
I think its best to eat what you find works good for your body. But never eliminate animal products.
