My theory: The reason the Australian government COVID-19 mandates are so outrageously fascist, contemptuous and violent against it's citizens is because they WANT to be hated.

I expect the World Health Organization (or similar) will soon release it's official recommendations for COIVID-19 mandates and they will be far gentler than what Australia is being forced to endure...

...then the Australian people will be asked to vote for tolerable WHO mandates or intolerable local government mandates: the carrot or the stick.

Manufactured consent.
