A few minutes ago I saw a weird looking aircraft go by. It looked like an osprey, but instead of the propellors oriented like a helicopters, it looked like they were vertical but facing outward
It was literally the weirdest thing. Seems like it couldn't even fly. Any idea what this thing was or was my angle just bad?
Kind of - instead of the horizontal props it appeared to have vertical props facing to the sides of the wings. That's the really weird part.
I'm giving room for it to be just a bad angle on a osprey, but I don't know about that. Not seeing this thing anywhere online. The props appeared to be oriented like a wheel on a car would be - to the side and spinning on the vertical axis.
Cyclocopter / cyclorotor / cyclogyro?
I've seen YouTube videos from drone enthusiasts, but maybe something experimental asking those lines. Here's a general article: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cyclogyro
