This is one situation where having a relatively low salary is an advantage. I don't care if I'm fired at all. No agonizing decisions or weighing the pros and cons for me.
Yes but also kind of liberating. I'm a Christian and I think that American Christianity basically ignores what Jesus taught about wealth. He says that it's a distraction and it can keep you from the kingdom of God. All we need is our daily bread. A lot of people are discovering that their jobs at which they're for the most part overpaid are there idols. Most jobs to pay well don't do so because the person deserves it or has earned it but because they have bought into a system that rewards you for compliance. Medicine, law, big corporations, education system, unfortunately sometimes law enforcement and military works the same way, and the list goes on.
