The only other possibility is that they were hoping for a "guilty verdict" to appease the mob, then allow for Kyle Rittenhouse to appeal that verdict based on withholding of evidence by the prosecution.
One advantage for liberals in a mistrial is that Kyle isn't found innocent of the charges. He would have shaky grounds to file $Millions in defamation lawsuits against the main stream media (who slandered him).
